I wanted to do something sweet for my dear sister. I built the frame and stretched my own canvas with the help of my youngest, Zoe.
Collectively, Zoe, Cloie, and myself all primed the newly constructed canvas.
No surface in the house was big enough to accommodate the enormous canvas, so I resorted to hanging it to paint.
The color palette fits my sisters new style as well as the size is proportionate to the wall it will be hung on.
Aside for the color palette, each aspect of this painting has relevance in both our lives. Mom's favorite thing was to drive through the mountains in Colorado as the Aspens turned in fall and glory at their beauty. With that, the Cardinal was also her favorite. His direction indicates her passing. However, she is still looking back in our direction from above. The heart shaped knot represents all of the love that she passed on for her family to cherish. This is more than a painting, it is a remembrance to Mom.... We love you.
